Free Vocal Range Test

Sing from your lowest comfortable note to your highest. The test shows each note live and matches your range to a voice type. Free, no sign-up, nothing recorded or uploaded.

How do I test my vocal range?

Press Start, allow the microphone, and hold a steady “ah” on a comfortable middle note. Slide down slowly to your lowest clear note, then up to your highest clear note. Hold each note for about a second so it registers. Use headphones or a quiet room for the cleanest reading.

What are the voice types and their ranges?

These are typical choral ranges. Most voices extend beyond them with training; they are a guide, not a label.

Voice typeTypical range
BassE2–E4
BaritoneA2–A4
TenorC3–C5
AltoF3–F5
Mezzo-SopranoA3–A5
SopranoC4–C6

Is a wider range always better?

No. A usable range, notes you can sing with steady pitch and tone, matters more than the extremes. Range and register training focus on smooth transitions between chest, mixed, and head voice. Learn more about vocal range and register training.

Should I push for higher notes during the test?

Stop at the last note that feels easy and clear. Straining for a higher note does not change your voice type and can tire your voice. If you feel pain, stop.
